In recent years, pressure on LGBTQIA+ people in Russia has intensified with the introduction of new discriminatory policies – the updated “gay propaganda” law and the Supreme Court’s decision to label the so-called “International LGBT Movement” as extremist.
The Grey Rainbow project by the Dataout Foundation documents harms caused by these anti-LGBTQIA+ policies, including direct consequences, such as persecution for “gay propaganda” and “LGBT extremism”, and indirect consequences like hate crimes these policies fuel.
Pushkin House Bookshop in London hosts the art project “Places of Interest”, a series of postcards describing hate crimes on the background of Russian cities, where these crimes took place. Get a copy of one of these postcards by supporting our project.
